About SSMAF

SSMAF is a nonprofit organization that provides help to marginalized Indian communities to get scholarships in top foreign universities

What we did

SSMAF came to us to build a new website for their organization to raise awareness about their organization. They needed a website where the aspiring students could apply for their scholarship and guidance program and the donors could donate to the organization.

We had a couple of meetings with them to understand their needs in detail and then came up with a website design that suited their organization's overall identity.

The challenge

SSMAF's site has to serve two audiences whose needs are almost opposites. A student from a marginalised community is looking for a scholarship they can actually apply for, and needs the process to be plain and unintimidating. A donor is deciding whether the organisation is credible and where the money goes. One page cannot lead with both.

The approach

We started with meetings to understand how the scholarship and guidance programme actually runs, then designed around two clear paths: apply, and donate. Each has its own route through the site, so neither audience has to read the other's material to reach what they came for. The design follows the organisation's own identity rather than the visual conventions of charity fundraising, because the work here is education rather than emergency appeal.
