Where we start, and why it is not with content

Most sites we take on are held back by things that have nothing to do with writing more. Pages Google cannot crawl properly. Six versions of the same URL splitting their own rankings. A page about your main service that loads in four seconds. Hundreds of thin pages, published because somebody read that more content is better, now dragging down the ones that matter.

We fix that first. It is faster, it is cheaper, and it makes any content that follows work harder.

There is a specific failure worth naming, because we have watched it happen and we have had to recover from it on our own site. Publishing large volumes of low-value pages used to work and now actively causes harm: a search engine that decides a domain is producing filler will devalue the good pages along with the rest. If your traffic fell off a cliff and nobody can explain why, that is the first thing to check.

What the work is

A real audit. Crawl, index coverage, speed, structure, and the queries you are already close on. You get a written document with the findings ranked by what they cost you, and it is useful whether or not you continue with us.

Then the fixing. Technical debt, then internal links, then the pages that need writing or merging or removing. In that order, because each one makes the next more effective.

Content that answers something. Written by people who understand the subject, aimed at a query somebody actually types, structured so that a search engine and a language model can both use it. Increasingly those are the same requirement.

What you should expect from the timeline

Technical fixes can show in a few weeks. New content typically takes two to four months to settle, and competitive commercial terms take longer than that. Anyone offering you a faster answer is selling something else.

We would rather set that expectation at the start and be judged against it than promise you a good first month.

When you should not hire us for SEO

If your site cannot convert the traffic it already has, SEO is the wrong first purchase. More visitors to a page that does not persuade anyone is a more expensive version of the same problem. We will tell you that, and we would rather fix the site first.

How it works

The technical work first, because it is cheapest
Crawlability, page speed, structured data, internal links, and the duplicate or near-empty pages competing with the ones that matter. This is unglamorous, it is fixable in weeks rather than quarters, and on most sites it is where the first real movement comes from. We do it first because it costs the least and compounds with everything after.
Content aimed at queries that convert
There is a difference between traffic and buyers, and it is easy to spend a year growing the wrong one. We work from your own Search Console data to find the queries where you already appear on page four or five with commercial intent, then write for those. Ranking sixtieth for something valuable is a much shorter distance than ranking first for something nobody buys from.
One team for the site and the search work
When SEO is a separate supplier, every recommendation becomes a ticket for somebody else and half of them never land. We build the sites too, so a technical fix is something we do rather than something we email about. This is the single biggest practical difference between us and an SEO-only agency.
Reporting you can verify
Monthly, in plain language: what changed, what moved, what did not work. Every number comes from Search Console or Analytics and you have access to both, so you can check any claim we make. If a month went badly you will read that in the report rather than a chart with the axis cropped.
No guarantees, and here is why
Anyone promising you a position is either guessing or lying, because rankings depend on competitors and algorithms that neither of us controls. What we will do is tell you what we expect, what we are measuring, and how long before the answer is meaningful. Usually that is three to six months before the picture is clear.

Questions

The things people ask first.

How long before we see results?
Technical fixes can move within weeks. New content typically takes two to four months to settle, and competitive commercial terms take longer. Anyone offering faster is selling something else. We would rather set that expectation now and be judged against it.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No, and anyone who does is guessing or misleading you, because rankings depend on competitors and algorithms neither of us controls. What we commit to is telling you what we expect, what we are measuring, and reporting honestly against it including the months that go badly.
What do you actually do first?
The technical work, because it is the cheapest and it compounds with everything after. Crawlability, page speed, structured data, internal links, and the thin or duplicate pages competing with the ones that matter. On most sites that is where the first real movement comes from.
Our traffic collapsed and nobody can explain why. Can you help?
Often, yes, and there is one cause worth checking first. Publishing large volumes of low-value pages used to work and now actively harms a domain: a search engine that decides a site produces filler will devalue the good pages with the rest. We have had to recover from exactly that on our own site.
Is SEO worth it if our site does not convert?
No, and we will say so. More visitors to a page that persuades nobody is a more expensive version of the same problem. If that is the situation we would rather fix the site first, even though the SEO retainer is the larger piece of work for us.
Do you report in a way we can check?
Monthly, in plain language, with every number from Search Console or Analytics. You have access to both, so any claim we make is one you can verify yourself.
